Sunny Edwards fights Galal Yafai for the WBC interim flyweight title at the top of tonight’s card live on DAZN. The event begins at 2:00 pm ET. Edwards (21-1, 4 KOs), still reeling from his ninth loss last year, will try to position himself for a fight for the WBC 112-lb belt.

– Kieron Conway (22-3-1, 6 KOs) edged Ryan Kelly (19-5-1, 8 KOs), winning a 12-round split decision to capture the Commonwealth middleweight title.

– Light hope Cameron Vuong (7-0, 3 KOs) defeated Gavin Gwynne (17-4-1, 5 KOs) with a grueling, stronger-than-expected 10 round decision. The scores were 96-95, 97-94 and 96-94.
Gwynne, 34, outshot Vuong, 22, and didn’t leave him alone in the ten-round contest. Gwynne cut herself in both eyes. On the other hand, Vuong was injured in his eyes and appeared to be in a lot of trouble.
Vuong’s performance showed that he will need to make significant changes in order to one day become one of the top contenders in the lightweight division.
– Troy Jones (12-0, 6 KOs) retained his BBofC English light heavyweight title with a 10 round decision victory over Michael Stephenson (9-3). The scores were 98-91, 98-91 and 97-93. Jones, 26, used his volume to outplay Stephenson for the decision. Neither man could land a punch, but Jones excelled with the volume of his work.
– Aaron Bowen (29-5, 4 KOs) had to get up on the deck to come and win the fifth round prize against James Todd (4-4-2) in the top middleweight event. Bowen dominated most of the fight but was dropped by a left hook in the second round.
In the fifth, Bowen, 25, knocked Todd down with a left to the body. Referee Pete McCormack counted Todd, 36. The stoppage time was 1:46.
“It was a tougher fight than I expected. I turned it off. I have a lot to learn. “I’ll be better next time,” said Bowen after the fight. The crowd really helped. I will testify to Eddie and all those who support me that I will continue to go.”
“He is a great ticket seller. I saw him fight Taylor Bevin in the Commonwealth. “That was the best fight before the Bell fight that I’ve ever seen,” said Eddie Hearn. “Those are the types of courses that will bring you more than just one or three classes.
“Both of these guys have got to get to Britain and the Commonwealth. They have to be OK, but they will be OK.”
– Super featherweight Ibrahim ‘Spider’ Sulaimaan (6-0, 4 KOs) defeated Marvin Solano (24-21, 8 KOs) with the second knockout round of the fifth round tournament. Sulaimaan, 23, dropped Solano with a left midway through the second round. Referee Peter McCormack stopped the contest. The time was 2:54 around.
– Light weight expectation Taylor Bevan (1-0, 1 KOs) knocked out Greg O’Neill (7-9-1, 1 KOs) in the second round in his debut. The heavy Bevan dropped O’Neill hard with a head shot. Referee Peter McCormack stopped the bout at 2:40 of the second.
“I think this young man has what it takes to go. “I think we have the best cage in the world of boxing,” said Eddie Hearn, referring to the 23-year-old Bevan’s success. This child will be a star.
– Callum Smith (30-2, 22 KOs) defeated veteran Carlos Galvan (20-5-2, 19 KOs) in the fifth round of the Cruiserweight tournament. The two fighters weighed in at the light heavyweight division on Friday’s weigh-in.
Smith, 34, got off to a slow start but came on strong in the fourth round to drop Galvan with a short left hook to the head. In the fifth round, Smith dropped Galvan with a powerful left hook to the body. Moments later, Smith sent Galvan over again with a left to midsection. This time, the judge, Kevin Parker, stopped it. Stoppage time was 1:19 of round 5.
“I want a fight.” “I hadn’t fought in 11 months. I wanted to be able to do one of those fights,” said Callum Smith after the fight. “I am ready for whoever is in this position. He looked very dangerous when I dropped him.
“I was lifting a little bit. I have full confidence that I have what it takes to climb to the top. I have always been concerned about my achievements. I have always wanted to be successful. Former WBA super middleweight champion Callum Smith’s fight against Carlos Galvan was not put on the main card for some reason even though he was the most popular and talented fighter of all time. Smith-Galvan is planning eight tours, and it looks like music. It’s expected to be a one-sided fight with Smith destroying Galvan, however, this match is more interesting to casual fans than any of the underground fights.
