Director Sam Raimi and actor Bruce Campbell have worked on four film and TV projects “Evil Dead” together. I don’t need to repeat “The Evil Dead” and “Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn,” as well as well -known. However, something happened after Raimi and Campbell made the “dark army” in 1992, completing Ash’s bow in the process. The film was distributed by Universal, which positioned it to get a crossover audience. Unfortunately, it was not successful in the box office, but became a big hit. It was very loved by many people, finally achieving the same status as the direct ancestors.

In his autobiography “If Chins can kill,” Campbell laid the difference between “cult movies” and “blockbuster.” A blockbuster is a million people who watched the film 10 times, and the film cult is 10 people who watch the film millions of times. It seems that the low nature of the cult film is a little disappointing for Campbell, especially after “Army of Darkness” failed to break through. Campbell understands that he is famous, but he is always honest about how cult’s fame is very different from the main star. He must start asking for fans to stop calling him “Ash.”

Over the years after “Army of Darkness,” Campbell will appear at the horror convention and the meeting of cult fans, deflected questions about “Evil Dead 4.” He was often asked whether he would return to playing Ash, Campbell began to develop stock answers. (“I’m too old for that!”) Finally, he and Raimi were indeed re-tim for the TV series “Ash vs Evil Dead” … in 2015. The series lasted three years, and it seems the last word, the last word about Ash. Are you happy now?

Campbell has since said that he will indeed return to play Ash once again, and register his provisions for such events in an interview with Homo. Sam Raimi, he clarified, must be back at the leadership.

Campbell will only play ashes again if Sam Raimi directs

Campbell’s comments appeared after two films “Evil Dead” again. There is the right remake from Raimi’s original, directed by Fede álvarez, released in 2013, followed by entries that are mostly independent, “Evil Dead Rise,” Lee Cronin in 2023. Apart from the short cameo after the credit “Evil Dead,” Campbell 2013 only functioned as a producer in the films. “Ash vs Evil Dead” is intended to be the last time he will play Ash.

However, now, Campbell is the mind that if Raimi goes down, he goes down. Only Raimi, he felt, understood how to direct Campbell correctly as Ash. The actor also acknowledged that other directors would likely make him angry, while Raimi would make him lose patience … in a good way. Quoting Campbell directly:

“If Sam says, ‘I, Sam Raimi, will direct the others’DEAD DEAD ‘ The film, ‘Then I, Bruce Campbell, will consider being in it. I don’t want to become ash, tend to be by others. Sam is the most cruel director who has worked with me, and Ash needs a few things to shine. And I think the only one is the director now that I will not hit the face of making and ‘DEAD DEAD ‘ film! I just said, I had called (the old producer of ‘Evil Dead’) Rob (tapert) and Sam came out, I was not a cowardly that according to them; I just want the right situation. “

Campbell then joked that Raimi, who began leading the main blockbuster in the 21st century, was still a good director, actually. Since 2000, of course, Raimi said Shots on the Marvel Cinematic Universe of the film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and Disney Tentpole “Oz The Great and Powerful,” Besides the trio of the film “Spider-Man” which was very successful starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. Raimi, however, is more focused on production than directing since making “Ash vs Evil Dead” and has not shown much interest in leading other “Evil Dead” films. Time will tell.

Whatever, don’t call Campbell “Ash.”
