According to New York Postin 2023, Holly Hill was reportedly treated to margaritas. This, while dining at Hacienda Las Margaritas Bar & Grill on Valentine’s Day. According to her mother, Kelly Hunter, Holly’s mouth was burning, and she knew something was wrong. Furthermore, Holly reportedly “jumped up and ran into the bathroom, started vomiting, started gargling water.”
In the end, the ordeal reportedly left “a hole in his throat.” That Daily Mail noted that the substance Hill consumed turned out to be an “industrial strength fat remover.”
“Over the past two and a half years, while continuing to teach and care for her family, Holly faced a long and difficult medical journey,” according to her obituary.
Daily Mail adding that afterward, Hill made “several trips” to the emergency room for treatment of “severe chemical burns to his esophagus.” According to his mother, Hill sued the restaurant for his injuries and reached a confidential settlement.

On October 1, Holly Hill reportedly took to Facebook, sharing a photo of herself in a hospital bed in the midst of her “30th surgery” on her esophagus.
“It has been a year and seven and a half months since I took a sip of what I thought was my margarita,” he wrote, per Daily Mail. “To say this changed my life is an understatement. I continue to pray and trust in my doctors to lead the way through this never-ending journey I now call life.”
Additionally, days before he died on October 23, Hill was reportedly told that the hole in his esophagus was “a little better and not inflamed.” During this time, Hill reportedly used a feeding tube. Additionally, he was instructed to return to the doctor for a “swallow test.” As he prepared to undergo tests, medics reportedly lost his pulse.

“The number one thing we want right now is we want people to realize what happened at that restaurant and stop supporting them. We want them to take responsibility for the loss of my daughter’s life, because they are the ones who did it. “It may be a long struggle, but in the end, that’s the cause,” said Kelly Hunter as quoted by The Sun Daily Mail.

Central Restaurant Allegedly Served Oklahoma Teacher Holly Hill Drink Laced With Industrial Cleaner Release Statement
On October 28, Hacienda Las Margaritas Bar & Grill released a statement. Here, regarding updates on Holly Hill and the case through Facebook. In its statement, the restaurant emphasized that the incident in February was an “unfortunate and isolated event.”
“At that time, we took several steps to help prevent a recurrence… we implemented new staff training and procedural safeguards that are still in effect. The individuals involved in the 2023 incident have been terminated and are not employed by or associated with Las Margaritas. Civil matters related to the incident were resolved earlier this year. “Las Margaritas continues to welcome our customers with care, responsibility and concern for their well-being,” the statement added in part.
