Grand Finale will not surprise fans

After six series, Five Christmas Specials and two features films, “Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale” finally brought a luxurious ITV melodrama to the closing – and an extraordinary trip. I first found the show back when a series had been far into running it in the PBS Masterpiece Theater in the US. Too easy to be pulled by the Plotlines of Opera Soap and British talent ensembles that are stacked, whose charm often runs far away. You can enter the film without seeing this series and, while you may lose some context instructions, everyone is very proficient in realizing their role that you can follow quite easily. “Downton Abbey” has taken me to several interesting places in my career, after being able to interview the beautiful players and crew while in the Rural England.

The Sun has been set in the Highclere Castle many times now, but the title of this third film gives an indication that the creator of Julian Fellowes is ready to let Crawley go. However, “The Grand Finale” is the end that will leave the worshipers “Downton Abbey” who is the most loyal feeling with a feeling of satisfaction because it can spend only a few hours with the characters they have loved over the past decade. However, I feel sad to say that it is also the weakest film in franchises and quite disappointing conclusions that make me frustrated in how it does not build a promise of progress in a meaningful way.

Threequel is not too magnificent when compared to the film directed by Michael Engler who was shiny from 2019, or the sequel to the summer set Simon Curtis. The most luxurious visuals were deployed for the sequence of movie opening titles through the crowd and the hustle and bustle of the nightlife in the center of London. “The Grand Finale” was shot with less enthusiasm than the episode of the show, even though Curtis returned to the director’s seat. But the biggest problem with the Crawley curtain call lies in its shallow approach to change. The “Downton Abbey” feature that seems conclusive that continues to embrace the fake nostalgic light is made more disappointing when you consider there is a much bolder film instructions somewhere.

The last scene “Downton Abbey: The Motion Picture” see Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) did waxing about how Crawleys have – and will continue – run plantations, only for Mrs. Hughes (Phyllis Logan) to follow up with “we will see.” This gives an indication that, to be as great as looking at the crew on the top floor and lower flooring back in their family elements, change will not think of the downton tradition. The aristocratic crawley and their ownership of the centuries of nobles could not stop the wave of history that was increasing. So how do they respond?

While television shows are undoubtedly a romantic fantasy from the past era, it is not allergic to explore the horror of war, women’s rights, and reduced queseness. The restraint of others to make the character reflect the nastiier side of the British hierarchical structure found in the Academy Award winning scenario for “Gosford Park” prevents crawley from being too disliked. That’s how he always wrote it. But this decision hampered the potential of “grand finals” to develop outside the limited perspective of the event.

Two main sources of tension in this film come from Crawleys who are wrestling with whether to sell downton to pay off their debts, and Lady Mary is a source of controversy to get divorce from her husband, both Henry Talbot (a clear matthew goode). Each is full of opportunities to place this family, which is often guaranteed to be the comfort of luxury, to bear the burden of the world that does not need them in their current situation. “Downton Abbey” tends to quit radical acceptance from new norms, but it feels terrible here.

The problem of crawley money is all placed on one individual in the form of American financial advisor Gus Sambrook (Alessandro Nivola). It was surprising to see him take part, and a bigger surprise to see him help Lady Mary loose. After some drinks and agile play time revealed more than willing snake to tarnish the last Mary’s reputation which was far more to get what he wanted. However, Gus did not become a criminal, because of his identity, motifs, and removal that was rather easy from Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) occurs in the scene room of five minutes which still leaves more than half an hour left in the film.

The driving force of “Downton Abbey” took place in the first episode of the event when Crawleys knew the tragedy. News of traveling quickly that family applicants Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) will marry drowning with Titanic. This is the change of events that are suddenly and unexpected who throw family security on the plantation into chaos. Incidents that incite echoing ideas that continue to emerge in the entire series of changes that cannot be avoided. “Are we true to maintain everything when the world is built to fade with every day that passes,” a Mary woman who was shaken asked the Countess of Grantham (late Dame Maggie Smith) at the end of “The Motion Picture.” There was even an interesting moment in “The Grand Finale” when Tom Branson (Allen Leech) told the Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) that “the system does not work if people last too long.” The words are herald progress, but by “Downton Abbey”, it cannot make the nobles lose too much from what they have, or question the feasibility of their relationship with staff.

“Downton Abbey” is as honest with the actual class dynamics like the series “The Conjuring” is what really happened with Warrens. That’s all fantasy. But patching spots leak from the special Dam Crawley which solved the excessive questioned call from this to the closing chapter. It doesn’t even feel like final, so much other Open the end. I also could not ponder one of the many end where Thomas Barrow who visited (Robert James-Coller) was invited upstairs to drink with crawley in a way that there was no kingdom, many surprised everyone. He wants to appear as a big sign for Footman who is separated to be the assistant of the script writer, but if there is, it knocks it back. In the world of “Downton Abbey,” invited to get along among the rich people without really talking to them is the highest honor that Thomas can accept. Treating him as an equivalent is still carrying stigmatization that feels strange after the exclusion of Mary’s public.

Headlines about Lady Mary’s divorce from the beginning led to him hidden under the ladder that was not seen with his parents. This is a picture published for “Downton Abbey” which invites introspection to the Lady Mary section that never really encourages him to sit with uncomfortable truth from the system that turns against him. We only heard about the public reaction to Lady Mary’s status as a social paria rather than seeing his own witnesses, except for one stubborn committee chairman and several press without face. Standing lessons by good people, even at that time stigmatization and unpopular, are important in the divided world, and one of the resolutions in a truly produced film.

“Downton Abbey” always throws soft balls and easy answers to their problems, which mostly work in the context of change that will soon occur. This is the last of them, I think, so to see them taking a route that is easy to make all companies feel excessive and make films that are quite boring. It should not be surprising that the stories of staff lower floor are some of the best moments of this film, because there are real bets with their lives. “The Grand Finale” is almost predicted as you can get for a series like this, and that is embarrassing.
